Gyo junji6/22/2023 ![]() ![]() So, Gyo, for me is more than decent and by far one of his best works. It was later republished by VIZ Media under the VIZ Signature imprint. When there's nothing left to perceive as normal, the unnatural, the bizzare replace and become the norm. Background Gyo: Ugomeku Bukimi was first published in English by VIZ Media as a VIZ Editors Choice title, a slightly larger format, from Septemto March 10, 2004. But this is a pattern in his most works, not just exclusive to Gyo. then it gradually worn out from the scientist uncle to fish apocalypse. Shit, how can a smell make anyone feel helpless? It was one of the best uses of paranoia by far. I really felt anxiety of the girl myself, started to smell the stench out of nothing in my room. It did a good job to made me empathize with the protagonists. I've been really weirded out by the first persistent fish flying back at them in the bag. I'll ever remember the opening of Gyo, it was really powerful. Yeah, like you pointed out a lot of people doesn't held Gyo as high as Uzumaki or Amigara because of the lack of 'the classic Lovecraftian angle' but in other ways Gyo had succeeded to be even more disturbing than those in some areas. ![]()
