A confederacy of dunces online6/19/2023 It's like watching someone falling down the stairs in folly, it's sad could have been dangerous, yet we laugh. Sometimes situations are actually pitiful and ludicrous and yet you can't but help but laugh. Honestly, it is the characters and their traits are the greatest source of humour. Yet he is the man whose actions impact lives of other well-etched characters - his mother Irene Reilly (her character is the one that perhaps evolves most throughout the narrative), a colored fellow Jones (who is probably smartest of them all in practical terms), patrolman Mancuso (No - he is just impacted, his character ain't detailed that well.) and Mr. Basil Fawlty of Fawlty Towers, Bernard Black of Black Books, Don Quixote et al) [Personally, I see glimpses of lot of pop culture characters - all rolled into Ignatius - Mr. Reilly is half hero idealist/creative/genius and half anti-hero slob, delusional, thoughtless (to people), asocial and at times disgusting. The protagonist of the the book, Ignatius J. It is perhaps one of the most unusual and weird books I have read.
